Dorothy's first talk!

Well, it's official. Dorothy is a big girl now!! She gave her first talk on Sunday. Here it is...

We live in a world where it is important to heed and follow the Prophet. To heed means to listen, and to follow means to obey. In the Primary song "Follow the Prophet" it says...
"Now we have a world where people are confused, if you don't believe it, go and watch the news. We can get direction all along our way. If we heed the Prophet's follow what they say."
During April conference we sustained a new Prophet "Thomas S. Monson" He encouraged us to do many good things. In my family we have chosen to follow the Prophet by:
attending church
having family home evening
saying family prayers
and
reading our scriptures.
By following the words of the Prophets our family has been blessed.

She was so cute when she gave her talk she grabbed the microphone and talked loudly and slowly into it (just like we practiced all week!) and held up all the pictures at the right time. We are so proud of her!! Daddy couldn't believe he had a big girl giving a talk in Primary. I might add that as soon as she finished she said "Mommy I want to do it again!"

Too silly!!!

Today while I was getting ready, Dorothy looked at me and said "gasp, Mommy your hair is turning black, right there (she proceeded to point to my roots)" I guess it's time to dye my roots!!!

Cousins, Cousins, Cousins!!!

My brother Evan and his family came out to Denver to visit us!!! We went to the zoo, Bonefish grill, shopped, played rock band and the wii, more shopping, and just played around!! The kids were also able to drive around "Relly" car. We had an amazing time and can't wait until we live a lot closer to them!!

Spring Flower!!

We had the most beautiful spring flowers "pop" up in our yard. So after church, I had Dorothy pose in front of them! (I might add that three days later she picked and destroyed them all! But no surprise there!!!)

Trading Spaces!!!

So you have heard of the show trading spaces right? James and I decided to participate in trading spaces with team #1- James and Tricia and team #2- Dorothy and Preston! It was a grueling weekend with lots and lots of work but I think the results were well worth it... just see for yourself!!!

Nice job team #1- great results!!!

Maybe team #2 did not understand the rules of the game.
(You were supposed to make the room better, not worse!!)

Snow in Spring!!

This was the grizzly sight we awoke to this morning!! The crazy thing is, last week it was in the seventies and next week its supposed to reach the mid seventies again!! I am just trying to adapt to this 'crazy Colorado' weather!!!

Remodel...

Monday... I am staring at the walls thinking I want to paint those bad boys... Ten minuets later I am on my way to Lowe's to buy paint. Ten hours later I am still paining thinking, "Was this a good idea?" Today I am glad we ~ (James helped) painted! You know I am a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants type person, so this really was pretty typical! I am just enjoying the fruits of our labor now thinking, "I had better get caught up on laundry!"

Now I am thinking, "Should I paint the kids rooms????"

We're going to the Zoo Zoo Zoo!!!

We bought a yearly pass to the Denver zoo last fall, and now that the weather is cooperating, we finally made it back!! Dorothy of course still loves every single animal from Africa (giraffe, zebra, elephant, you get the idea) and Preston surprisingly loved the animals as he would yell at them!!

Dorothy and Preston (who thinks mid-drifing is stylish) riding the train!!!

Dorothy pushing Preston all over the zoo!!

Riding the Carousel!!

PS~ the title is from the Peter, Paul and Mary song.

Book day!!

All year Dorothy has been waiting to get the "froggy bag." She kept telling me it would come in the mail. You know the ramblings of a four year old... having no idea what it was, I kept telling her that I was sure it was coming! Well, Dorothy finally got the said froggy bag! When you get the froggy bag, you are supposed to bring your favorite book to school with a treat! Well, since Pinkalicious is still Dorothy's favorite book, she wanted to bring that with the "official Pinkalicious cupcakes!" I had to make them... you know me and anything cake!

I really wish I had snapped a shot of that nappy froggy bag so you could understand what all the fuss was about!!!
