Fall- a season for change

WOW, Colorado is beautiful!! I have always loved fall but I think after not having it for four years we realized today how much we really miss the beautiful colors, smells, and chill you only get during fall! On MSN it rated Colorado as the #1 spot to see fall (James and my sister say they have never seen the Logan canyon!) So we decided to go and see what all the fuss was about. We went to an area outside of Vail and took some pictures to capture the beauty but honestly looking at them I am disappointed because it was amazing!! We then drove to Silverthorne where they have the outlet malls, shopped a little and drove up the mountains to take a fall hike.

James LOVES the outdoors I knew that about him from day one and he has been waiting to get back to where we have mountains so we can hike, camp, fish and enjoy mother nature. We hiked for a few hours and had an amazing view! It was actually really cold up there! There is something about being up so high in the mountains that makes you feel so close to Heavenly Father and as you look at this beautiful earth he created for us.

Dorothy took a few home a few souvenirs (pine cones, sticks--kids love sticks) and we headed back. All of the natives around here kept telling us about the "World's best pizza" so we ate at Beau Jo's for dinner. The pizza was awesome but Dorothy's kids meal-- the best meatballs and spaghetti I have ever had!!

What can I say.... it was an amazing day!!

I love this picture!!

Big girls don't cry

Well it's official Dorothy started school!! She is attending a preschool at Mt. Olive Lutheran church. She just goes two days a week for two and a half hours. She loves it!! The first day she was telling me that I would drop her off and come back in five min. Then I had to explain that she would be there a little longer. Although I was worried sick the entire first day she came off like a champ!! Her teacher told me how outgoing and friendly Dorothy is. The whole way home Dorothy kept telling me about her new friend whom she named "girl with the new Dora backpack." She had a great time and a little time to myself (Preston napped the whole time) was pretty great too!!! I guess I worried for no reason at all........

Tacos at Burger King???

Being that I am an avid lover of Jack in the box..... Where else can you order Chinese food, burgers, Mexican, or breakfast all day long??? I went to Burger King the other day and to much to my enjoyment they had tacos???!! Now for those of you never lucky enough to have the tacos at Jack in the box they are the BEST tacos in the world!!! So I though I will try these and see if the king can compete. Well he can!!! I am warning you they are not as good as Jack but for someone who is not fortunate enough to live next to Jack these are a close second!!!! They are delicioso!

Little Buddy can now sit up!!

Preston is growing sooooo fast I hardly know what to think!! He just learned to sit up this week and can almost crawl!! He has been a belly sleeper from day one so I am not that surprised when he gets up on his hands and knees and tries to crawl. The funny thing is as soon as he moves his hands forward he falls on his face. He cannot support all of his weight on one hand yet..... He likes to sit up and look around mostly for Dorothy's toys to grab; either that or her hair!!! I just love all of these cute baby stages but it makes me sad how fast it's all going by!!!

I guess we should call him "Big Buddy"now that he's so grown up!!

CAN-A-THON!!!

Well I have not blogged in a week (I think I am having withdrawls!) We have been busy!!! Labor day sure was a day of labor: hard labor!! James and I decided to can peaches! We canned for 12 hours and now have around 60 jars of peaches to last us for a year!! It was work.... really hard work!! It made me wonder how in the world my Mom would can peaches, pears, green beans, beets, salsa, grape juice, applesauce, and homemade jam every summer with six kids running around!! She's amazing. I guess that's how!!

BCBB-- Blues Clues Birthday Bash!!!

Well It's official I am now 30!!!! How did I get that old?? I sure don't feel that old!!! Oh well they always say you are only as old as you feel right? James and Dorothy surprised me with a gift card to my favorite store... Nordstrom!! I also got a brand new sewing machine. This machine is awesome!! It's a Singer it has 1000+ stitches, 3different feet, it can stich the alphabet, and well can do pretty much everything a mediocre sewer like me needs!!! I just got some new fabric and can't wait to bust it out!!!
Dorothy always plans birthday parties for James and I and for me she planned Blues Clues. So James and Dorothy baked the cake and I helped Dorothy decorate it!! I actually think it turned out ok!! Most of you know I love to put on a good party and really enjoy the challenge of making the cake! I hate those store bought cakes!! After watching "Ace of Cakes" on the food network all the time I have decided that I am going to learn how to make some crazy cakes!! Next birthday (James) I am going to bust out the fondant!! And once little miss Dorothy comes up with a theme I will start the plans!!! Yep it's gonna be spectacular!! Stay tuned to see!!!!

Our creation!!
